palm springs getaway

Even if we couldn't take a real break from work, for our 2 year wedding anniversary we decided to book a weekend at the Ace Hotel in Palm Springs. We've been wanting to check it out and it was pretty great that neither Cruz or I had ever been. The vibe was good, the room was awesome, the food was delicious, the drinks were great. Although, I gotta say, my favorite part of this hotel was definitely the photobooth. I went nuts with it.

Sunday morning was reserved for strong coffee and the Palm Springs Vintage Flea Market which was in-cre-di-ble. It was on the smaller side but filled with awesome and unique mid-century treasures. We were fortunate enough to meet a cute couple who own a small authentic Indian jewelry company called SUNFACE. They have a permanent spot at the Rose Bowl and are always in this Vintage Flea Market if you ever feel so inclined to personally check them out. They are actually locals and lovely overall.

On Sunday we made our way up to Yucca Valley and we visited the famous 99 cent CACTUS MART. We had a good time there trying to take pictures of the hens that are loose, petting the house cat that was in charge of security, who was doing a great job at it by the way and talking to the folks who work there about cactus hybrids.

Despite of being a serious succulent/cactus killer I took a chance and brought one home with me. After we left Cactus Mart we stopped by Sky Village Swap Meet for a quick peek and found an amazing small shop with vintage hats and cowboy boots. Cruz was extremely excited to find a pair of Whites Bounty Hunter boots that unfortunately were not his size. Upon scouting and calling it quits we made our way to Joshua Tree, which is as most of you know is breath taking and I feel so glad we went out of our way to visit it.

On our way back we just HAD to stop by Cabazon, which is personally a dream come true. I felt pretty sad though to see that this small park is in a bit of a decaying state and it would be nice to have more stuff like these locally.

All in all our Anniversary trip was awesome and it was nice to spend time with Cruz since our schedules are pretty weird and we hardly have weekends together, let alone trips. Palm Springs was awesome, but honestly anyplace would've been fine by me as long as I would spend it with my guy. (Awww.)
