vice district brewery
BEERTOBERFEST is closing to a slow crawl as November pops in to say hello. Last week I was in my home town of Chicago visiting family, and one of the places on my MUST VISIT list was Vice District Brewing!
This brewery opened shortly after I left the Windy City, and I was referred to it by my beer brother Jermaine. Started by two neighboring Chicagoans who happen to have an immense love for craft beer and home brewing. They brewed with pride and shared the liquid love they labored intensely for with others in their community. At some time, they were brewing so much that a taproom and brewing facility just made perfect sense!
They opened their location on south Michigan avenue near the south loop of downtown Chicago. Perfect location for growth and exposure to the downtown crowd and residents nearby. The growing craft beer community Chicago welcomed them with open and inspiring arms.
The guys are running it small but the beer they pour is quality and they offer a wonderful variety of styles. From Blonde Ales, porters, stouts, bountiful english browns, double IPAs and an apricot sweet red rye IPA that I couldn't get enough of. Vice District are releasing styles that honestly work as being standouts for their style and display the attention taken with each batch brewed.
The taproom is beautifully decorated for showcasing the breweries working class grassroots and further emphasizing the taproom is a gathering place for the community to share stories over damn good beer.
Next time you're in Chicago, seriously take a trip down the south end of the Mag Mile and stop in for a pint at Vice District Brewing. The gents running the brewery can always be seen talking to their customers, pouring behind the bar and always excited to talk beer, brewing, how to get started with your own home brew goals and maybe taking a leap into the industry yourself. Thank you Vice District Brewing! CHEERS!
